The process of sucking your stomach in while breathing out can feel very odd to start with, and completely the opposite of what you feel is normal. Most people find it more natural to suck their tummies in when they breathe in and trying to do the opposite is like trying to pat your head and rub your stomach at the same time. It is tough, but persevere and you will get there.

If you are new to the concept of abdominal hollowing it can be quite tricky to master, often leaving you in doubt as to whether you are doing it properly. The best position to get to grips with hollowing your stomach is often on all fours. Although, once mastered, it can easily be performed standing up, sitting down, standing on your head, when you are starting out, most people find it far easier to execute on their hands and knees.
